Skiing in Gressoney, Italy
Sunday, 10 February 2008
Read more...The Monte Rosa ski area is an area of steep-sided, wooded valleys strewn with boulders large and small. Because of this the ski area, whilst huge, is only medium sized in terms of the number of runs - although some of them are several miles long with descents of up to 5,000 feet. The valleys are branch valleys off the huge Aosta Valley which stretches for many miles below the Swiss border.

FORNSIDE CHRONICLES
Base Brown and Green Gable via Gillercomb

Read more...A reasonable forecast for the fells today after a torrential downpour in the night.  Sure enough by 8am patches of blue sky were appearing.  My drive to Seathwaite was quite exciting as Borrowdale had flooded in the night.  But the road was passable with care.

Stickle Pike and Dunnerdale
The weather changed today just as forecast.  I decided on a circuit of Dunnerdale including Stickle Pike - one of the Outlying Fells.  I have seen this walk many times on Sean's site but today there were none of the wonderful views.  I started in mist and only dropped out of it for about ten minutes.

"I love the Lake District. Went for first time 20 months ago. OFC website is the best thing I've found, along with all the members' sites. My kids at school log on every morning as well." Sue Sullivan
