"Southwold Town Trail - The Hunt for King Edmund's Crown" is a town trail, devised by the OFC's Peter Burgess and his friend Steve Button, focussing on the delectable Suffolk town of Southwold.  The Trail is intended to guide you around town seeking out information in order to solve clues and thereby gain the key to your final quest and task.  All those successful on the trail receive a certificate of completion.  Read on to find out more and buy your own copy using the link to the right (£3 inc. p&p. Normal rrp £3.50).

Follow directions to solve the clues around town
Follow directions to solve clues!
The Southwold town trail has been planned and researched in order to explore the delights of the town in one outing.  As you follow the trail you will be guided down some of the town’s ancient alleyways that whisk you away to another world.  Aside from the beach and High Street, the trail explores the town’s quaint ‘Electric Picture House’, the glorious church, considered to be one of Suffolk's finest as well as other locations such as Gun Hill, the Lighthouse, the pier, as well as passing many of the town’s fine pubs along the way.

Children can play Town Spy and hunt for the town Greens
Town Greens & Town Spy!
There are essentially two aspects to the trail which are aimed at adults and teenagers and younger children.  The two parts for younger children are divided into two parts:

In Search of the Magic Words is a section for younger children.  As you follow the route around town find the names of all the Town Greens like the one shown in the picture to the right.  Write each name into the numbered answer boxes on page 8.  When you have all The Greens written in, the shaded boxes going vertically down the page, will spell out magic words which have a close connection to Southwold.

Another aspect of the trail is the Town Spy At the same time as searching for the Town Greens, keep your eyes open for all the other things shown in the pictures on page 9.  An example is shown here.  This is extra fun.  If you see any of these things, tick them off in the circle next to each picture.  Can you be an excellent town spy and find all 17?

"On Saturday we met up with Ann and Roger Hiley, John Paterson and Terry Gargrave for a walk up High Rigg and on Monday we met Paul Harrison on Pike O'Stickle. It was a real pleasure meeting everybody and we enjoyed every minute." Dave Leslie
