The Kelly Kettle Print

The 'Kelly Kettle' is not a new or particularly swanky piece of gear but has a tradition that has been well tested by time.  Developed over decades by the fishermen on the West coast of Ireland, the 'Kelly Kettle' is a tried and tested piece of kit.  The famous kettle is ideal for picnics, or as I have said already, ideal after a long day on the tops and you are gasping for a fresh brew of your best.  I haven't used the kettle rigorously as yet, but so far I am really impressed, firstly by its build quality and with the relative ease you can boil water.  Due to its unique double skin design, the boiler has a high surface heating area to volume ratio which means the water contained in the reservoir boils rapidly.  Linked with the chimney style design, the tiny fire base boils up to 2.5 pints in just a few minutes.  On every occasion I think it actually boils water faster than an electric kettle.  The diagram below shows the components of the kettle followed by  a short video.
