Hunter Davies at the Kirkstile Inn The weather in the Lakes on Saturday 2 September might not have been conducive to a great time on the fells but ten hardy members enjoyed themselves on a very wet walk on Low Fell and Fellbarrow. However, by the evening, dried out and feeling human again they were joined by another 16 members and guests to enjoy a lively and interesting talk by local writer, fellow walker and Wainwright biographer, Hunter Davies. Listen to Hunter Davies discuss some of the evening's finer points. PART 2
PART 3
The evening passes too quickly as first we were regaled with tales of AW and also his other 'biographees' - Wayne Rooney, Paul 'Gazza' Gascoigne and The Beatles. Hunter also brought along interesting memorabilia relating to AW inlcuding letters, birth certificates and the photo of AW in his knotted hanky. An engraved wooden plaque featuring the Kirkstile was presented to Hunter by Peter as a memento of the evening - which I'm sure he will treasure as much as we all will our picture versions - which all members present received. Sadly, over all too soon - but a happy occasion when cyberspace became reality and fellow enthusiasts enjoyed a night away from their computers to meet in real life. From an original article by Liz Lemal Issue 5, The Lost Sheep - 'An Audience with Hunter Davies.' |

"A big thank-you too to Peter for piecing together the latest Lost Sheep, I feel honoured to find a place in this extra special issue and serve AW's dearest cause." Mark Richards
