When OFC member Lorraine Barks was diagnosed with duodenal cancer at the end of 2007 she vowed to conquer Scafell Pike when fully recovered. Following her successful operation in January 2008, Lorraine has been steadily getting back to normal, with her first walk in early March. Since then I have been steadily compiling this article to serve as a reminder of her journey and to provide that last burst of inspiration to tackle Scafell Pike this coming Saturday. Lorraine, whatever the weather throws at you and fellow OFC members, I am certain that everyone will have a great day. We would like to think that in some small way the OFC has aided your recovery process.
Starting out with some gentle, local walks Lorraine has managed to work up to the higher peaks quite quickly. Special thanks must go too to Steve for being there when needed and accompanying her on many of the walks. What others have said Here are some of the comments OFC members have left on some of Lorraine's Webshots albums. Hi Lorraine, looks like you are well on the way now!
