I have been asked by a few people now if I was thinking of planning another get together in the Peak District following last year's event. I am still looking at the final details but I was thinking about a walk from Old Glossop to Bleaklow Head via Doctors Gate path and the Pennine Way with a return by Cock Hill (yes that is its name).

The date is Saturday 21st June, and is no longer provisional since we have now booked ourselves into the Hayfield camping site for the weekend.

I have had an Italian restaurant in Glossop recommended to me so I was thinking about trying to book table/tables at this if enough people are interested.  You can see the menu which seems pretty extensive.

John and I will be camping at the Hayfield site for the weekend and will no doubt be walking on the Sunday (after packing up the tent) somewhere around Kinder if anyone was interested in a Sunday walk with us. I was thinking of Mount Famine and South Head with a return via Kinder Downfall and William Clough.

I know last time some people camped, this is the closest campsite to the start of the walk but it is a Camping & Caravanning Club site and gets booked up at weekends so if you are intending to camp I'd suggest booking sooner rather than later - phone number for it: 01663 745394. Caravans aren't allowed on this site and there is no electric supply to pitches.

Sue Kennerley adds: "Just to add regarding caravaning in the area, I've noticed a new site for caravans at Spray House Farm in Little Hayfield - telephone 01663 742670, though have no further details."

Anyway feedback by any interested parties would be nice especially so I get some ideas of numbers for the meal.

I can be contacted direct via my website or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Please bear with me if I don't respond immediately as I am away in the Lakes from Saturday until Wednesday next week (lucky me!)

This page will be updated as more details become available.
