A traverse from Causey Pike to Eel Crag (Crag Hill) Print

Today was very much a "got to do it before the snow melts" day.  Like Sean I felt that the morning was too good to not get out on the Fells.  An early appointment with my (diabetic) nurse meant that I started later than I would have wished but I still managed to walk two thirds of the Coldale Round from Stonycroft and be back in time for tea.

I don't suppose there was more than an inch of snow but what a difference it makes to the views!  By the end of my walk half of the snow had disappeared and tomorrow I doubt if there will be much left in the North Western fells although the Scafells and Helvellyn look to have more cover.

My route over Causey Pike to Eel Crag and down to Coledale Hause was over familiar territory but the climb from the Coledale mine road above Force Crag to join the Stoneycroft mine road at High Moss was new to me.  The 600ft quite gentle ascent on a faint but clear path is a good way between two valleys and worth knowing about.
