Walk

I was not going to take an ice axe and crampons as I was only doing a small hill, but as everybody else was, and not to be left out, I carried them.  Going up the last climb I needed them and more and had an "OMG" moment - but then I am a bit of a coward.

It was a super day and as we drove north it was minus 5C, but it did not feel like it as there was no wind, although everything was frozen. The snow was powdery but had a frozen top on it. So you could walk across it no problem, then it gave way and you sank into it, making for difficult walking.

As we gained height the conditions underfoot became firmer and easier to walk on.  Though seem to take ages as we kept stopping to take in the views and take many photo's.

The last climb was steep and icy, so out came the ice axes and crampons, but it was not too far.

The views on the summit was just super, brilliant etc. and I took lots photos.

This last week the weather has been terrible but today more than made up for it.

"I love the Lake District. Went for first time 20 months ago. OFC website is the best thing I've found, along with all the members' sites. My kids at school log on every morning as well." Sue Sullivan
