A picture tells a thousand words.  I could bore you with an elaborate description of this modest route 'Back o Skiddaw' but what many of you want however, is the chance to share the experience.  As I build on the walks I will continue to display here, I recommed a map on your lap and the relevant AW guide in your hand.

This walk left a roadside parking place about half a click north of Orthwaite near Over Water (GR 255347) - OS Outdoor Leisure 4, The English Lakes, North Western Area.  To be honest, the parking spot proved the most difficult escapade of the day.  I suppose many of you will find a spot if you own a sensible car but my 12 foot long Land Rover needs slightly larger pastures.

Anyway, grab your AW Pictorial Guide Book 5 - The Northern Fells and turn to Great Cockup 4.  The initial part of my ascent is shown there but I ignored AW and turned left near the sandpit climbing up Orthwaite Bank - it's off the Wainwright route and not as bad as he suggested.  After Great Cockup it was off to Meal Fell via the legendary and seemingly mythical Pass of Trusmadoor.  Enjoy the walk, I did.....
