Huntaway NZ Sheep Dog Jonathon Harrington arranged a visit to a farm owned and run by Richard and Penny Chantler as part of the Hay Festival 2008.  This offsite event endeavoured to show those less familiar, the ins-and-outs of running a sheep farm especially in the present economic climate.

The farm is soon to be the subject of a BBC TV documentary in the series on Science in Agriculture (Jimmy's Farm).  The farm is 1150' above sea level on the side of the Black Mountains near Hay-on-Wye and produces New Zealand Romneys for sale as breeding stock to other farmers who wish to imrpove their flocks.  There were demonstrations of sheep dogs working, the chance to handle new born lambs, shearing demonstrations and displays of carpenters exhibiting their craft.  The visit was completed with lamb rolls made from the farm produce.  National Park Warden, Howard Morgan was also in attendance.  The event was sponsored by Hay and Brecon Farmers Ltd .
