The valley of Longsleddale is of course less well known and probably better for it. With no commercialism, massive car parks and tourist spots it's just the way AW would've liked it. The Saturday circuit, although short, took in the summits of Tarn Crag and AW's most eastern fell, Grey Crag. The ascent was started with a grade 2 scramble onto Tarn Crag, the imposing rock wall beneath Tarn Crag's western slope. Sunday took Andrew Leaney and I around the edges of Striding and Swirral in freezing and windy conditions. Valley conditions belied the weather on the summit and conditions on the cornice were tricky for those poorly equipped. This was the kind of walk that was invigorating and made all the more better by good company, fine fells and great hostellry to complete the day. On the previous evening the Hileys, Leaney's and my parents gathered at the Water Mill in Ings for a meal which was enjoyed by all. Enjoy the Youtube presentation:-
