A second excursion along Offa's Dyke, this time travelling along the Mercian rampart south of Knighton. The walk is along one of the best preserved sections of the dyke which was thought to have been built in the late 8th century by King Offa of the ancient Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia. Follow Peter Burgess as he joins many others on a visit to a Black Mountains' Hill Farm at 1150 feet above sea level. Here Richard Chantler and his wife Penny raise Romney sheep from genetics supplied from New Zealand. Richard has really adopted the NZ traditions with his sheep, clothing and even his sheep dogs! |

With another sojourn near Hay-on-Wye with days at the festival I planned to take two days off for walking. This first installment takes in a walk in rain from the River Lugg near Presteigne to Hay. I planned to walk along the Offa's Dyke National Trail but I didn't ask for rain which fell more or less constantly all day! |

On a cold day (4th March 2006) I drove north from London through poor weather and in some places through snow on the M6. Progress was slow, although in the virgin snow north of Birmingham I was glad I was in the Land Rover. What followed, on my arrival in Cumbria was magnificent weather identified by blue sky, cold conditions and a covering of snow on the fells like caster sugar on a newly baked Victoria Sponge. Will you follow Peter Burgess on his magnificent ascent of Brown Cove followed by a traverse of Swirral and Striding Edges? This was one of those sublime mountain days... |

Walking in Lakeland is always a joy. Walking in snow and cold conditions I love. Traversing Swirral Edge is one of those longed for moments and crossing Striding Edge just adds to the adventure. Doing it all twice in the same afternoon was just joy! Join Peter Burgess and Andy Wallace on this day walk in heaven! (20th February 2003) |

This is a two part presentation from 2002 when I visited my family in Arbroath, Scotland. Of interest to walkers here, will be the Part 2 ascent of Lochnagar starting in Glen Clunie north of the Glenshee Ski Centre. |

Nothing remotely relating to fellwalking, or for that matter the great outdoors, but another archived set of images froma visit to the London Motor Show at ExCeL in Docklands near my home. It was an interesting day out although my bank balance wouldn't stretch to a new Rolls Royce! |
