A visit to Lakeland left Peter Burgess keen to walk on 3rd September 2006, even though weather conditions didn't favour a high level traverse. However, equally enthusiastic company materialised in the form of John Scadding and Terry Bottomley. The weather might not have been conducive to a great day, but the rain left Scale Force full and the company of good friends made up for it all... |

After a cold and wet Christmas Eve in 2004 and an ascent of Tryfan and Glyder Fach a Boxing Day return was in order. My reconnoitre gave me the confidence to attempt a daring snow filled scramble and continuation around the Glyders with a chance meeting to fulfill the day. An ascent of Camel's Peak in the Drakensberg of the Republic of South Africa. This was an amazing experience to see some new mountains of which I had read much and with the added bonus of seeing, if not walking in, snow in Africa! July 2004 |

Continuing my archive series, this set of walks on the 24th and 25th January 2004 takes in two of my favourite areas. With a Saturday scramble in the less frequented Longsleddale, Sunday sees an ascent of Helvellyn from Glenridding with Andrew Leaney. The conditions were good for January although the high level route on the Sunday encountered ice and snow which required care and the necessary equipment for such an escapade. |

Today I ventured for a cycle in the brilliant sunshine and warm weather to ascend the heady slopes of the Beckton Alps and to visit the dockside at London City Airport where I live in the London Borough of Newham. All-in-all a 14km cycle ride visiting some interesting parts of the urban landscape in the urban landscape of east London's docklands. |
