Tuesday, 05 February 2008
Read more...In my last year working in the London Borough of Newham, a colleague asked if I would accompany him and a party of students on an A-Level visit to Iceland.  Wanting a geomorphologist in tow, I jumped at the chance to engage in this hectic but altogether fascinating visit to one of the World's most amazing countries.

The Great Westmorland Challenge
Monday, 04 February 2008

Read more...In 2006 the Wainwright Society generated a new challenge following on from the success of The Great Lakeland Challenge.  The idea  followed on from the GLC and a number of people, including myself, showed considerable enthusiasm to partake.  I hope you enjoy looking at the short audio-visual presentation depicting this unusual route away from the frequented ways.

Epping Forest - Wake Valley
Sunday, 27 January 2008

Read more...Fellwalking has a prerequisite - you need to walk on fells.  However, I hope you will allow me this pleasure in showing you somewhere a little nearer home.  Without a fell within 250 miles Tracy and I took the car up to Epping Forest and spent a pleasant few hours just wandering in the trees.  There was scarcely a view in site and then it got me thinking, it's just like Crinkle Crags last week!  Having said that, it was beautiful sunshine and it was fauna impeding the vistas rather than fog!

Crinkle Crag Capers

Read more...An early morning drive north after a late night in a London theatre heralded a busy weekend in Cumbria.  With a Saturday rendezvous with Bill Birkett and an afternoon in Staveley surrounding Wainwright Society matters, Sunday would provide a welcome break with a jaunt on the fells in the company of webmasters David Hall and Andrew Leaney.

BLENCATHRA - The Hard Way
Tuesday, 13 November 2007

Read more...Six hundred and eighty miles, five Wainwright tops with a traverse of Sharp Edge as his first fell walk and a whistle stop tour of The Lakes to boot!  That is the experience that Richard Aubrey gave himself when he decided to accompany me on my now annual trip to Lakeland for the FRCC act of remembrance.

Is This the Way to........?
Sunday, 28 October 2007
Read more...Wanting to archive some of my older files I came across something which I thought was rather different from the norm.  After completing the Tour du Mont Blanc with my brother in 2005 I produced this video compilation, more for his entertainment, well before the idea of this new website came to fruition.....
