Join the OFC on a visit to Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team base where £400 was presented from sales of 'The Lost Sheep'. Activities on Sunday entailed the ascent of Great Gable for the FRCC service. Join in on this initially amusing and latterly moving weekend of cameraderie.
On Saturday 12th November 2005 fourteen or so members of the OFC gathered at the base of Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team. A great night was had at the base after an introduction from Derek Tunstall MBE and a preliminary video. The team then showed off their latest gear including the Land Rover garage and other specialist items such as the 'body' splint which soon had Peter Burgess immobilised! After retiring to the Kirkstile where a fantastic meal was taken, members retired early for the night in anticipation of the early morning start and ascent of Great Gable for the Fell and Rock Climbing Club's service at the summit of Great Gable. The day dawned clear and promised to be a beautiful ascent for the likes of Jill and Nigel Batchelor who had attended all the way from Sandwich in Kent. Other members had travelled from far and wide and despite losing Peter B. on the summit, a great day was had by all. Follow the thrill of the proceedings with this four part presentation from the two days. Part 1 - At Cockermouth MRT base with Derek Tunstall MBE
Part 2 - The ascent of Great Gable, Honister to Gt. Gable
Part 3 - The service of remembrance with sound provided by Guy Newbold www.214fells.com
Part 4 - At the Westmorland Cairn and the descent (or "Peter Abandoned!" )

"Just had to say, thank you for such a grand few minutes. I am 67 now and my knees are past the challenge of such a climb (Tryfan article) but it was great doing it again online with you." Sheelagh Finlay
