Mick Fox and Peter Burgess
On Grasmoor summit
I had been acquainted via e-mail for some time but had never even met Mick Fox until today.  However, after deciding on Tower Ridge which was one of AW's Christenings, we ventured up Coledale with cheery hearts despite the poor weather anticipated.  After battling our way into Coledale from Whinlatter Pass, the bracken finally abaited as we set foot on the gravel of the old mine road.  Once at Force Crag Mine we kept left of the crag, ascending to the right of a beck before emerging in the hanging valley above Low Force.  Once there we aimed for Tower Ridge easily discernable to the left of Eel Crag itself.

The Grade 1 scramble was soon ascended and then a short walk later saw us ambling across the summit plateau of Grasmoor.  With refreshment consumed and photographs taken we descended to Coledale Hause after investigating Dove Crags.  Grisedale Pike was soon 'bagged' and an easy descent back to Whinlatter.

It was a thoroughly great day with excellent company and terrific mountain country with some of the finest Lakeland vistas you are likely to see with views from Skiddaw round to Helvellyn and the Scafell massif.  Check out some images from the day in the following Youtube audio-visual presentation:

"Just had to say, thank you for such a grand few minutes. I am 67 now and my knees are past the challenge of such a climb (Tryfan article) but it was great doing it again online with you." Sheelagh Finlay
