| David Hall, A walk above Wasdale Screes and into Miterdale Valley The original plan this afternoon was for me to take four people from work up Kirk Fell and Great Gable. In the end there was just the two of us, so the Kirk Fell walk was abandoned in favour of a walk which included a route across the top of The Screes. A lovely day to be out on the fells.

| David Hall, A short walk on Rannerdale Knotts Time was in short supply today, so we opted for a walk up to Rannerdale Knotts. The route took us through an area which, in late spring, is famous for its Bluebells. No Bluebells today I'm afraid, but we still had an enjoyable walk through this lovely area of the Lake District.

| Andrew Leaney, Binsey from Binsey Lodge Just a short walk today, only 2 miles, and less than an hour, the top always feels further away than it should. Low cloud hid the high fells as I headed up and down Binsey this morning but I still got views of the Solway Firth and Bassenthwaite Lake.

| Andrew Leaney, Hope Gill Horseshoe An ascent of Ladyside Pike and Hopegill Head followed by a traverse of the excellent ridge to Whiteside and then decscent to Dodd. We followed the walk done by Roger, Ann, Jo, Liz and Barrie back in July.

| David Hall, A quiet walk East of Ullswater - Arthur's Pike to Loadpot Hill Trying to avoid the bank holiday crowds, I headed for the area between Pooley Bridge and Loadpot Hill. Not only was the place almost deserted, but the sun shone to give a fantastic day on the fells.

| Loweswater Chronicle, Haystacks with Paula and Al Paula chose a Bank Holiday Sunday to walk one of the favourite fells in the Lakes - Haystacks. The crowds disappeared however, once we moved away from the main path and followed a less frequented route over to Honister.

| David Hall, Two fells, two lakes and a tarn from Grasmere Rain as we were leaving home meant a change of plan from the walk we'd intended to do in Eskdale. Instead, we did a walk from Grasmere taking in Alcock Tarn, Heron Pike, Nab Scar and both Rydal Water and Grasmere.

| Richard Ratcliffe, Fleetwith Revisited The Honsiter via ferrata scramble left me just a few feet short of Fleetwith Pike summit, so at the next opportunity I was determined to finish the job. Starting from Gatesgarth at just after 8am, I took in FP, Haystacks and the High Stile Ridge, returning to the car at about 5pm. Sunburns and sore feet, but well worth it. | 24 Aug 2007

| Loweswater Chronicle, Two Loweswater Walks A week at home as family and friends were due to visit. David and Daniel hadn't walked our two local fells, and our grandchildren hadn't been to High Nook Tarn.

| David Hall, A late evening on Eagle Crag and Sergeant's Crag It was another lovely day today and just right for the evening walk we'd planned to do on Eagle Crag & Sergeant's Crag. One of the problems this summer has been with planning walks in advance and then being let down by the weather; particularly on the evening walks, when you really don't want to be caught out on the fells after dark in bad conditions. No such worry this evening though. | 23 Aug 2007 |
| Dave Brown, Visiting some old friends in the Howgills I’m not sure how many years it is since I visited the Howgills but it is certainly over 10 years. I was parked up at Sedbergh for 8am and soon walking up Howgill Lane to access the fells at Lockbank farm. My first summit was Winder which overlooks Sedbergh and offers magnificent views to the south. I then made my way to Arant Haw, Calders, Brim Rigg Top and finally to the Calf. After a walk around I made my return to Sedbergh via the delightful small top of Crook. I’m delighted to say all my "old friends" are still looking well. Part 2

| Andrew Leaney, Eagle Crag and Sergeant's Crag Thurday evening saw me meeting up with David Hall and David & Daniel Mould for an ascent of Eagle and Sergeant's Crags. The excellent weather of the last few days (it's been a short Summer) continued and we were treated to great views and a walk in the sunshine.

| Andrew Leaney, Caermote Hill from Bothel Wednesday evening saw me on my continuing quest to walk all the fells in Wainwright's Outlying Fells guidebook. Caermote Hill is in the far north of the National Park and not visited by many. It does however give great views south to the higher fells and to Bassenthwaite Lake and makes a good evening walk.

| V & G, Arans - Dyfi hills - Cadair Idris traverse A splendid linear traverse of the Aran mountains, Dyfi hills and Cadair Idris range, following the natural lines of the ridges via the highest passes and returning via the diminutive but delightful Bryn Brith. This traverse from Llanuwchllyn to Dolgellau crosses 14 of the 2000-feet summits. | 21 Aug 2007

| Loweswater Chronicle, Ingleborough and Gaping Gill Following our Honister Meet, Liz offered to organise a Yorkshire get together to climb Ingleborough Fell. The date was to coincide with an opportunity to descend Gaping Gill Pot arranged by the Craven Pothole Club.

 | Loweswater Chronicle, Longsleddale and Grey Crag A chance for Jill, Nigel and Matthew to venture into more easterly areas as Jo collected two more of the distant Wainwright Fells. On the edge of Lakeland, and with predonimantly moorland grass, these two take on a more Pennine feel. | 16 Aug 2007
|
 | Loweswater Chronicle, Dock Tarn and Great Crag Jill, Nigel and Matthew were up in the Lakes for a holiday so we took the opportunity for a walk together. Jo also wanted to climb Great Crag in Borrowdale so an afternoon meet at Rosthwaite was arranged for today.

| Helmut Hudler, Crete - Afendis Stavramenos Only very accurate maps show the narrow gravel road from Orino to Thripti, from which another gravel road branches, leading to the summit of Afendis Stavramenos. I wanted to see the sunrise from a Greek mountain, but the bad state of the road made my progress very slow with my small hired car. Higher up when the road gets very narrow, after sunrise, I decided to get off the car and walk. From there I reached the summit in about 45 minutes. Though I did not see the sunrise from the summit, it was a delight to walk so early in the weak but ever increasing morning light leading to bright sunshine later on. The air was very clear, so I did see for far distances, both coasts of the isle of Crete and other big mountains including the summit I climbed 4 days before (Spathi Madharas). A great experience. | 14 Aug 2007

 | Loweswater Chronicle, Webmasters on Gavel Sounds like something out of Harry Potter, but it was more of a potter round High Nook, Gavel and Mosedale with Andrew Leaney and David Hall.

 | Loweswater Chronicle, The Honister Yew Tree Evening Saturday evening it was time to cast aside the fellwalking gear in favour of something a little more casual, as the OFC Dining Section meet at Seatoller.

| Helmut Hudler, Mountain walk in Crete - Spathi Madharas (2.148m) in the Dikti Mountains During my holiday in Crete I did a walk in the Dikti mountains on the highest summit of that group, Spathi Madharas (2.148m). Due to the early start, we walked very quickly in the beginning, going in the shadow of the forest and the mountains. Once high up, the air was not as hot as on the beach, with some cool wind adding. Only the descent turned hot when reached lower areas. It was a good, 8 hours walk, in bright, cloudless weather (the usual weather over there), more than 1.100 m of ascent in an unusual, rocky, grassless terrain, only with thorny bushes and dry resistant trees. An unforgettable remembrance. | 10 Aug 2007

 | Loweswater Chronicle, Slater's Bridge and Cathedral Cave 2 After our recent visit to Cathederal Cave we were informed that we had only scratched the surface of what was there. At the request of an overseas visitor, we return to Little Langdale with a better map and renewed enthusiasm.
