August Walks by members
| Bleaklow and Snake Back Pack with V&G A criss-cross route climbing Bleaklow via the unusual approach of Near Black Clough, and descending through Lady Clough to regain high ground at Mill Hill via the Snake Path. The Pennine Way is used to cross the moor to Doctor's Gate and complete the circuit to Old Glossop. The east held the greatest promise for some halfway decent weather and I made a solo trip to renew acquaintance with the old familiar peat and gritstone of Bleaklow. Old Glossop gave me several choices of approach route and I could decide on the day depending on the conditions: this was a trip I partially made up as I went along based on some ideas from the map.

| Loweswatercam Angle Tarn Crags with Jill and Nigel Jill and Nigel are up in the Lakes and wanted a walk but the weather is still poor. A mid level walk would stand the best chance of staying out of the cloud so we arranged to meet at Hartsop Village for a round trip to Angle Tarn Pikes.

| Loweswatercam A damp outing to Ling Crag My turn to walk the dogs today. They were really bouncing from not having a good walk so I decided to change boots for jogging trainers and try and tire them out. I think I lost that race !

| Loweswatercam A Keswick Bank Hol Saturday Back from a brief holiday seeing the children and grandchildren, I'm straight back into work for the Bank Holiday. The weather is much better so I take my camera to work and take advantage of my lunch hour to see the sights.

| A circuit of the Upper Derwent from Bamford with V&G. The outward leg is via the Bamford and Derwent Edges, the Cartledge Stones ridge path and Howden Edge to Margery Hill, and the return is via the Cut Gate track to Howden reservoir, a climb to Alport Castles and Bridge-end pasture, and finally joining the Derwent Vallery Heritage Way to Bamford Mill. The changeable and windy weather forecast looked decidedly better to the East, and we took this opportunity for a short return to our old nearby stomping ground of the Dark Peak, which we virtually did to death years ago on day walks. Bamford Moor was only recently opened under CROW access and provided some new territory to explore, while the familiar areas refreshed old memories.

| Loweswatercam The Wainwright Animal Centre The Kapellan Day ... was rated a success despite the weather. We met up at the Animal Rescue Centre where eighteen members and friends saw around the newly refurbished Centre and present the cheque for £700 from the club.

| Loweswatercam A damp Dent and Flat Fell We met at midday but sit round the kitchen table eating our sandwiches to give the weather time to improve. Dent and Flat fell straddle the western edge of the Park and would be a suitable walk for this afternoon.

| Loweswatercam Fisher's Wife Rake from Fornside No consistent summer this year as another band of rain is forecast for mid afternoon. John has offered to lead Fisher's Wife Rake. It won't be 'view dependant' so would be a good choice for our outing today.
