Paul Harrison (the Priest) and I had a good day's walking yesterday, Fairfield from Dunmail (the King) Raise.

We set off on a warm, sunny day and proceeded up alongside Raise beck, it was easy going with a few stops to look at the waterfalls, pretty impressive despite the dry weather.

Soon, we were at Grisedale tarn surveying the route ahead.  We headed for Deepdale Hause and after a short dinner break arrived at the hause with our first top ahead of us, St. Sunday Crag (the Saint).

Sorry about the cheesy title, it seemed funny at the time.  I'm not saying who the jester is though!

It didn't take long to get to the top, apparently we'd just missed some 'extreme bellydancing'!  Woul have made an interesting photo!

We headed back to the hause after passing around 50 schoolkids (with teachers, we had to meet them at a narrow part of the path didn't we).

Next step was Cofa Pike, a place I've dreaded going to.  Surprisingly easy going actually, but since my tumble I've been very nervous about exposed places.  Terror kept me going though!

We reached the top where I nearly visited Deepdale the hard way, a bit of a slip on the top of Cofa Pike, a very near miss.

After this the rest of the path was a doddle and we walked up the scree to Fairfield for some superb scenery, the clouds making the fells to the west look impressive.

A short break on a pretty quiet top followed, then we were off down the 'path' to Grisedale tarn. I think this is one path that needs pitching, it's getting too slippy.  I wouldn't like to have to descend it in heavy rain.

After a few slips and slides, we were back at the tarn and heading for Raise beck, it was a bit tougher on the knees than on the way up but no problem.  Once again a few breaks taken for pics of the falls.

It didn't take long to get back to the car from here, a great walk completed.

Many thanks to Paul for being wonderful company, a smashing day with cracking scenery all the way.
