Cathedral Cave, Little Langdale Print

With my back on the mend, my brother decided to take me for a drive to see the lakes, he wanted to see something different.

We drove alongside Coniston Water with no views to be had due to very low cloud, we decided to carry on to Little Langdale, have a look at Blea Tarn then take in Great Langdale. We found a layby to park in and I dragged him off to Slater Bridge.  Much photo taking later (he's a camera buff) we walked up to Cathedral Cave, it was awesome.

I'd only been here once before, today it had a lot of mist looming around the pool inside, it was very eerie and atmospheric, totally beautiful. The goldfish living there weren't too keen to be photographed however!

We climbed up behind the cave to look back in from what I call the big and little windows and spent some time trying (and failing) to get a decent picture.

A bit of exploration of the waste heaps followed, many amateur and a few professional looking cairns have been built by enthusiastic picnic-ers!

The morning cloud was rapidly boiling away leaving a lovely day, and when I suggested climbing Wetherlam, I cannot repeat what Phil's reply was.  It was a touch sweary!

We walked back to the car, followed by a friendly chaffinch which was very keen to have his picture taken.

Ambleside and its busy streets was next with a detour up to the Kirkstone Inn for food, it had stopped serving when we got there!  Typical.

To cut it all short, this short walk shows how much fun you can have without walking miles, there are so many little gems to be found without much exertion, Cathedral Cave has to be one of the best.
