Gowbarrow Fell and Aira Force Print

Bank Holiday Monday, after a lovely early walk to Latrigg and a quiet stroll to Castlerigg stone circle, Lorraine and I, followed closely by Kev and Les drove to Aira Force.  The early quietness now long gone, it was a busy place.  Happily we weren't planning on hanging around for long, we had grander plans.

After the expected waterfall pictures we headed up and away, following a good path to Yew Crag.  From here we stopped contouring the fellside and headed up to Green Hill.  The wind had woken up by the time we had arrived at Yew Crag and up here it was even stronger.  We upped and downed our way across the open fell to Gowbarrow trig point.  We didn't linger in the wind.

After making the most of photo opportunities we headed downhill toward Dockray then turned left to return us to the falls.

It had got busier since we were last there!  It was as busy as I've seen it (mind you, it was only my 2nd visit!).

Plenty of places for photos here, it was beautiful.  I managed to see 2 dippers in what seemed like a courting dance, bowing to each other and jumping up and down.

Sadly we all had to head south that day so with fond farewells, we left Kev and Les and made our way to the motorway.  Once more I was dropped off in Carnforth.  I seem to be having a lot of 'Brief Encounters'!
