His legacy is all the more remarkable for her dedicated support and love.  I add my appreciation and affection to those Peter has postedMark Richards
She was a remarkable lady and I'm certain she was the only person that ever knew the real Wainwright.  Jill Batchelor
My sympathies to all Betty's friends and family, may the happy memories last forever.  Steve Procter
To a younger person like myself, Betty Wainwright meant the final living link to AW. With her passing, the final chapter in the first installment is finally over. It is now up to those who care enough about the publications and the man, to maintain the legacy and pass it on intact for future generations of walkers not yet born. I hope those of us who care enough about high places and their environs have the wisdom and long term vision to justify our role as stewards, thereby helping to maintain the Lakeland we all adore and love. I am sure Betty was glad to see at least some part of the start of that legacy.  Peter Burgess
