Angela Clarke is organising another OFC get together in the Peak District.

Location & Meeting

Meet at 10:30. My mobile is 07811 769786 in case your car breaks down or other disasters stop you coming.

Location: Old Glossop SK045948. There is free roadside parking. Park in front of the factory, next to the river, near the bus turning point. This should make sense when you get there, if it doesn't you're in the wrong place.

There is a map here, and a detailed street level map here. Both maps show the starting point with an arrow.

Walk details

Walk is roughly 9 miles with about 600 metres of ascent, this of course doesn't allow for bog-hopping and negotiating groughs!

Route: Old Glossop - Doctor's Gate Path - Higher Shelf Stones - Hern Stones - Bleaklow Head - Wildboar Grain - Glossop Low - Cock Hill - Old Glossop

For any collecters of tops etc the route should include:

  • 2 trig points
  • 2 Nuttalls
  • 1 Hewitt
  • 1 Hump
  • 1 visit to an old plane wreck/memorial site
  • and Hern Stones

It is roughly the same route as the walk I did on 14th April 2006 which you can view on my website http://www.peakwalker.net

I have booked a table at the restaurant for 6:30pm so that should give us plenty of time to complete the walk and I'm sure if we are a little early it shouldn't be a problem.

Look forward to meeting you,
Angela
