Meet at Muker 11am, outside the tearooms. There is roadside or pay-and-display parking. Maybe a quick pot of tea in the Muker tearooms, if desired. I'll aim to be at the tea rooms for 10:45.
Walk across the meadows of Upper Swaledale to Keld, visiting Kisdon Force. Dogs and children are welcome.
Cross the River Swale and explore the other side of the valley including old mine working areas and Crackpot Hall. Proceed up Swinnergill to the mine working areas, depending on the weather, visit Swinnergill Kirk, a limestone cave. If you do want to visit the cave I suggest a headlight or torch - it's safe and spooky!
There is a small cafe at Keld, or you can save your money for a pint at the end by bringing a packed lunch.
Return to Muker via Swinnergill and the valley floor.
Estimated length of 6 miles, duration of up to 5 hours and fairly knee-friendly.
Drinks at The Farmers Arms, meals served from 6pm but they do not take bookings. They are dog friendly though.
