There were about 140 members for a meeting to hear the guest speaker, Julia Bradbury. Julia Bradbury recentlyappeared in a fellwalking series on BBC by Acorn Media UK.
Betty Wainwright The meeting was also special with the appearance of Jane King, Betty Wainwright's daughter. Jane spoke to the assembled gathering in order to pass on Betty's appreciation for the work done in 2007 with arrangements concerning the Centenary of AW's birth. This earlier event was marked by the OFC with their Centenary walk and meal in Clitheroe, Lancashire. A celebratory ascent of Pendle was the order of the day followed by a meal and drinks in the town with guest speaker Mark Richards in order to remember AW's very own 'Pendle Club'. Many members along with civic representatives and other dignitaries later attended the Centenary Service at Blackburn Cathedral on the Sunday.Since this article was written Betty Wainwright has sadly passed away - <CLICK HERE> The following AV presentation incorporates some images from the meeting. I would like to publicly thank Gina Fox, Personal Assistant to Julia for her help.

Modern life takes it's toll on family relationships. Alan Nolan and his son, Ian, found themselves distanced from each other following Alan's divorce from his son's mother. For 20 years, they were apart. Ian lived in Italy and Alan in the UK. We were separated by a physical as well as an emotional distance, recalls Alan, who was determined to reignite the bond with his son. |

"Through the years I have compiled a veritable library of books, many of which focus on my greatest love - that of high places. To be honest I was surprised at my collection ranging from a book entitled, ‘Descriptive Tour’ from 1821, right up to Chris Jesty’s latest updated AW Pictorial Guide (Book 4). To be honest, I had quite a fun afternoon, in between the cleaning and recycling, by dipping into some of the literary gems that grace my shelves."
